Health-care a hot topic as Naples Coffee Party meets, brews Tea Party rivalry

A diverse brew of about 20 people drank coffee and participated in a civil, open forum about hot-button political issues Saturday during the Naples Coffee Party’s second meeting. “There was too much emotion whether I agreed with the (Tea Party) people or not,” said Joe Machaluso, who saw the Coffee Party as a great alternative to the Tea Party. “I figured we would come and discuss issues in a more civil zone, and that’s exactly what happened.” Continue reading

New Observation Tower Open at the Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge

The Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge has completed construction of an observation tower accessible from the new trail head that opened in October.
