Behind every great man is a great woman, so the saying goes. For Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, as recounted in the Broadway hit “Jersey Boys,” 46 great women were behind the blue-collar-kids-turned-musical-superstars. Don’t expect a huge ensemble cast with that number at Barbara B. Mann Performing Art Hall’s presentation of the rock and roll-charged biography, however.

Romantic night orbits around Irish tenor
On the heels of its recent name change, Miromar Design Center — formerly the International Design Center — will be further transformed this month for Opera Naples’ presentation of “Romeo and Juliet — Then and Now.” The production, which will explore the enduring theme of star-crossed love from Shakespeare through modern times with selections from Gounod’s “Romeo and Juliet” and Bernstein’s “West Side Story,” will also bear witness to another type of transformation: that of renowned Irish tenor Anthony Kearns.

Opera Naples accepts Caruso’s challenge with ‘Il Trovatore’
According to Enrico Caruso, there is a simple formula for a successful performance of “Il Trovatore.” All it takes, he suggested, is “the four greatest singers in the world.” Evidently, the legendary tenor’s edict has done little to dissuade productions of Giuseppe Verdi’s tour de force, which is the 17th most performed opera in North America.
