Widened I-75 opens today, although accidents occurred along the way

The quick completion of the Interstate 75 expansion project limited the number of noteworthy events. Wednesday, the new, third southbound lane of the $430.5 million Interstate 75 widening project opens to traffic; the new northbound lanes opened in November. Work on the project known as iRox is finishing nearly a year before the December 2010 scheduled completion.
